Tael (兩) - what is it?

A lot of people wonder, why oolong packages, especially expensive, have so unusual weight - 37,5g or 56,25g. At first sight it seems, that such kind of weight doesn't have any sense and more easy offer standard European packages, divisible by 30 or 50 g, or use ounces (28,35g), which are used in USA. But in fact, 37,5g is neither more nor less than 1 tael - Chinese measure of weight, which is used very widely up to now in traditional Chinese medicine and tea trading.

Dragon boat festival (端午節)

The Duanwu Festival, also often known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday originating in China, occurring near the summer solstice. It is also known as Zhongxiao Festival commemorating fealty and filial piety.

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the four most important holidays that is celebrated in the Southwest of China. It has been held annually for 2000 years.

What is special about black tea from Taiwan?

Black tea lovers sooner or later want to know what Taiwanese black teas are like and what makes them special? For example, Indian teas are often considered strong and astringent, while Chinese teas tend to be sweeter and have notes of cocoa or caramel.

Fu Shou Shan (Fushoushan)

Fu Shou Shan (Fushoushan) (福壽山) is a mountain located in Heping District, Taichung City at an altitude of 1,800-2,580 meters above sea level and surrounded by mountains. It spreads over an area of 800 hectares. The farm was originally established on 1 June 1957 when 100 Republic of China Armed Forces veterans were sent by Veterans Affairs Council to develop the area into an agricultural site. It was originally named "Li Shan Veterans Farm".
