Fu Shou Shan (Fushoushan)
Fu Shou Shan (Fushoushan) (福壽山) is a mountain located in Heping District, Taichung City at an altitude of 1,800-2,580 meters above sea level and surrounded by mountains. It spreads over an area of 800 hectares.
The farm was originally established on 1 June 1957 when 100 Republic of China Armed Forces veterans were sent by Veterans Affairs Council to develop the area into an agricultural site. It was originally named "Li Shan Veterans Farm".
Fu Shou Shan Farm was originally used for growing fruits and vegetables to supply the soldiers who were building the Central Cross-Island Highway at the time. After the completion of the construction, these veterans decided to settle here for good, and several aborigines joined them later. The government helped them find a new way to make a living, and they started to develop Cingjing Farm, Fu Shou Shan Farm and Wuling Farm, where peaches, plums, pears, spinach and cabbages are grown. So far, Fu Shou Shan Farm has been the most successful one.
With an altitude of 2,500, Fushoushan Farm is ideal for growing high mountain tea trees. The fluctuations in temperature between day and night result in these trees growing at a slow rate, accumulating more flavor. Their leaves turn out to be surprisingly soft and make some very fragrant tea that will lift your mood and stimulate your senses with every sip.
This tea is hand-picked by skilled tea harvesters. The leaves are then processed using traditional methods, which involves withering, rolling, and partially fermenting the tea leaves before they are fired to stop the fermentation process. This results in a tea that is known for its floral, fruity, and nutty flavors, with a smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
Due to its high quality and limited production, Fu Shou Shan Oolongs are considered a premium tea and are highly sought after by tea connoisseurs around the world.
