Sun Moon Lake Black Tea is one of the most famous Taiwan black teas and an important part of Taiwan’s tea culture. This tea is grown around Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, a region known for producing some of the most aromatic teas in Taiwan.

Spring and winter teas in Taiwan – what is the difference?

In one of our blog articles, we talked about four seasons of tea harvesting in Taiwan. The main ones are only two - spring and winter harvest. Currently, there is an opinion that the difference between spring and winter teas is erased, and they are becoming more similar in their taste. Winters are getting less cold, the weather is more unstable, all this leads to such changes.

Everything is taken into consideration, form and color of dry tea, wet leaves form, color of liquor, and most important is aroma, taste and aftertaste of the tea.

Tael (兩) - what is it?

A lot of people wonder, why oolong packages, especially expensive, have so unusual weight - 37,5g or 56,25g. At first sight it seems, that such kind of weight doesn't have any sense and more easy offer standard European packages, divisible by 30 or 50 g, or use ounces (28,35g), which are used in USA. But in fact, 37,5g is neither more nor less than 1 tael - Chinese measure of weight, which is used very widely up to now in traditional Chinese medicine and tea trading.
