Sun Moon Lake Premium Black Tea is a high-grade Taiwanese black tea from the famous tea-growing region around Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan. This area is widely regarded as one of the finest regions for Taiwanese black tea thanks to its mountain climate, fertile soil and constant humidity.
Compared to the standard Sun Moon Lake black tea, this premium batch is produced from carefully selected leaves and processed with particular attention to fermentation. The result is a tea with a richer body, deeper aroma and a more refined character.
The tea is produced in limited quantities and represents a more expressive style of Sun Moon Lake black tea.
Leaves: dark reddish-brown, large and well-twisted, with a glossy appearance that reflects careful processing.
Taste
This higher-grade tea features a naturally rich and intense fermentation character.
Its aroma reveals elegant notes of mint and cinnamon, creating a distinctive fragrance that is both refreshing and warming. The infusion is smooth, rounded and full-bodied, with a long and pleasant aftertaste.
Brewing
Warm up the teapot with boiling water. Put about 3 grams of tea into the teapot and pour a small amount of hot water over the leaves, then immediately pour it out.
Then pour 225-250 ml of hot water and cover teapot.
Recommended brewing temperature is about 85°C (185°F).
Steep for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Longer steeping will produce a stronger and deeper flavor.
Additional information
This is one of the traditional ways of brewing Taiwanese black tea. Depending on your taste preferences you may vary the steeping time from 35 seconds to 5 minutes.
This tea can also be brewed using the traditional Chinese method with a gaiwan, allowing for several short infusions that gradually reveal different aromatic layers.
Please note, that it is natural tea with high content of active elements, including caffeine, and minerals and some unusual feelings could appear. In that case we recommend decrease quantity of dry leaves and brewing time.
