Premium Dayuling High Mountain Black Tea is grown in the Dayuling area of Nantou County at an elevation of approximately 2,200 meters above sea level. At this altitude, cool temperatures, frequent mist and slow leaf growth create the distinctive character associated with Taiwan’s finest high mountain teas.

Unlike the more familiar high mountain oolongs of Dayuling, this tea is fully oxidized as a black tea. The result combines the depth and sweetness of Taiwanese black tea with the refined fragrance and clean character of a high mountain terroir.

The tea is rich and full-bodied, yet smooth and naturally sweet. Its aroma carries the distinctive freshness of high mountain tea together with subtle notes of longan fruit. The leaves retain their character through multiple infusions, revealing increasing sweetness and complexity.

Leaves: Long, delicate, loosely twisted leaves with dark brown and reddish tones.

Because the tea has unusually long and delicate leaves, it is packed in a protective tin rather than tightly vacuum-sealed. This helps prevent the leaves from breaking during transportation and preserves their original shape and quality.

Taste

The liquor is smooth, rich and naturally sweet, with a full-bodied texture and a refined high mountain aroma. Subtle honeyed notes of longan add a gentle fruity sweetness, while the finish is long, clean and pleasantly sweet.

The tea performs especially well over several infusions and is equally enjoyable brewed hot or prepared as a cold brew.

Brewing

You can use any kind of tea pot, but porcelain tea pot suits much better.

Warm up the tea pot with the boiling water, put about 3 grams of tea, and pour small amount of the boiling water into the tea and pour out.

Then pour 225-250 ml of boiling water and cover tea pot for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Boiling temperature is 90-95°C (195-205°F).

Steep more for more concentrate and deep taste of the tea.

Additional information

This is one of the traditional ways of brewing. Depending on individual gustatory preferences you can vary brewing time from 35s to 5 minutes.

You can also use Chinese traditional way of brewing - spilling, using Gaiwan and brew for 3-5 second each time.

Please note, that it is natural tea with high content of active elements, including caffeine, and minerals and some unusual feelings could appear. In that case we recommend decrease quantity of dry leaves and brewing time.
